By downloading, installing, or using SugarSpin ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use SugarSpin. These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you ("User") and SugarSpin ("we," "us," or "our").
SugarSpin is a self hosted music player application designed to run on your personal computer or server via Docker. SugarSpin plays music files that you own and have stored on your own hardware. SugarSpin is not a music streaming service, does not provide access to music, and does not host or distribute music content of any kind.
Pro and Gold licenses are one time purchases processed securely through Stripe. Prices are shown at checkout in U.S. dollars and may change over time, but a change in price does not affect a license you have already purchased. Because the Free tier lets you install and evaluate SugarSpin with your own library before you buy, paid licenses are generally non refundable. That said, we want you to be happy: if the Software fails to function as described and we cannot help you resolve it, contact us at support@hotdang.studio within 14 days of purchase and we will work with you in good faith, up to and including a refund.
Your license is perpetual and does not expire. It includes all updates for the current major version at no additional charge. Future major versions may be offered as optional paid upgrades. A perpetual license is not a guarantee that new features or updates will be released on any particular schedule. Support is provided on a best effort basis by email at support@hotdang.studio. SugarSpin is built and maintained by a one person studio, so we do not guarantee a specific response time, but we read every message.
Your license is issued to you and is not for resale or transfer to another person. You may, however, move your own license between your own machines: deactivate SugarSpin on the old machine and activate it on the new one. You may deactivate and reactivate as many times as you need. Each license permits one active server installation at a time within the limits of your tier.
SugarSpin plays music that you own and store on your own hardware. You are solely responsible for the content you add to SugarSpin and for ensuring you have the legal right to store and play it. You agree not to use SugarSpin to infringe copyright or other rights, not to resell or redistribute the Software or license keys, and not to attempt to circumvent tier limits, licensing, or security measures in the Software.
SugarSpin, including its name, design, and source code, is the property of Roger Trier / HOT DANG STUDIO and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your purchase grants you a license to use the Software as described in these Terms; it does not transfer ownership of the Software to you. Your music, your library, and your data remain entirely yours. We claim no rights over the content you store or play in SugarSpin.
SugarSpin is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non infringement. We do not warrant that the Software will be uninterrupted, error free, or compatible with every device, NAS, or configuration. You install and run SugarSpin on your own hardware at your own risk, and you are responsible for maintaining your own backups of your music and data.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall Roger Trier / HOT DANG STUDIO be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, music, or profits, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use SugarSpin. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Software shall not exceed the amount you actually paid for your license.
These Terms remain in effect while you use SugarSpin. Your license may be terminated if you materially breach these Terms, for example by redistributing the Software or circumventing its licensing. Because SugarSpin's core server runs on your own hardware, you may stop using it at any time simply by uninstalling it. Sections covering intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability survive termination.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Your continued use of SugarSpin after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users via email or through the Software.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of SugarSpin shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
